Financial Options

For job-focused training, personal development and continuing education, various financial assistance options are available:

Scholarships - covers a portion of tuition for certain programs and courses.
Loans - requires payback to a private student loan vendor.
Training Funds - workforce training monies.
Tax Credits - federal tax incentives for educational expenses.
Payment Plan - available for select career related programs.

Payment Plan Option- The cost of select programs can be divided between multiple payments, depending on the program length and cost. The first payment is due at time of registration and a signed agreement is required. There is a $25 fee for the payment plan.

Educational Tax Credits- Beginning in 1998, you may be eligible to claim tax credits for higher education costs on your income tax.

Hope Credit - may be able to claim up to $1200 for the qualified tuition and related expenses. For up to date information check this IRS website

Lifetime Learning Credit - You may be able to claim this credit based on your AGI for courses used to acquire or improve job skills. For up to date information check this IRS website

Training Funds- The state and federal government can provide training funds for individuals who are unemployed, laid-off, down-sized or disabled. Please contact a CTWorks-East location to determine your eligibility.

Scholarships-

• Bridges to HealthCare Scholarship
A United States Department of Labor Grant (#CB-15923-07-60-A-9) given through QVCC. Limited number available. This scholarship is for students taking CNA, EMT, Pharmacy Technician, and Medical Billing & Coding programs. Maximum scholarship amount is 60% of course cost.
