QVCC CELEBRATES THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF APOLLO 11 MOON LANDING

DANIELSON, CT — Quinebaug Valley Community College will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, which took place July 20th 1969, on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, beginning at 9 am.  Events will take place in the Robert E. Miller Auditorium at the Danielson campus.

QVCC will commemorate this event with a program celebrating the science, the history, and the adventure of this great achievement.Events include:

  • 9 am, Welcome, President Dianne E. Williams, Dean of Learning and Student Development Susan Huard, Instructor of Chemistry, John Lewis.9:15 am, Video presentation, Apollo 11 (A&E 50 minute video)10:30 am, Video – Le Voyage de la Lune (A Trip to the Moon), A whimsical twelve minute film by Georges Mélies, Paris from 1902.
  • 10:45 am, Panel Discussion - Moderated by John Lewis
