Globetrotters
This course allows kids to get a taste of all things exotic, from around the world. You will make a passport to document your travels as we "visit" a different continent each day. A mixture of music, culture, food, and arts from each area will give you a taste of the local customs, and we will create lasting memories in our scrapbooks, like writing our names in hieroglyphics. Say bon voyage as you set sail to new destinations and new adventures, while making new friends along the way!

Zome Engineering & Architecture
Come learn what Zome building tools are all about! These design tools for teaching solid geometry, science, art, engineering and architecture are the same tools used by architects and NASA scientists. We will work on forming basic geometric shapes and go on to build 3-D pyramids, a square bubble and more. We will get into architecture by viewing pictures of famous buildings and then trying to replicate them. Do you think you can build the tallest tower?

Cartooning & Caricatures
Welcome to the wonderful world of making your own comic book and designing its content. Learn the art of Japanese Amine and draw famous Japanese heroes along with their pets. View famous cartoons from the 1950's and learn about cartoon characters from long ago. Discover the art of making a caricature and see how easy it is with just a few simple techniques. You will have fun making caricatures of family, friends and yourself! Bring in your own cartoon characters and let’s learn how to draw them.

Exploring Dinosaurs
Dinosaurs ruled the earth for hundreds of millions of years—then suddenly they disappeared. Where did they go? Find out which dinosaur was the largest, which was the smallest, which had the most horns or the longest neck, or which ate the most food. You will learn all about dinosaurs through games, activities, and other fun educational tools. Learning about ancient life should be fun!

Curtain’s Up!
“All the world’s a stage,” so why not let the classroom become yours? If you like to be in the spotlight or have ever thought you might, then this is the class for you. Get up and move as you learn the theater concepts of stage directions, setting, character, etc. You will get to expand on your creativity as we explore the world of improvisation. Sample activities include mask making, costume and scenery design, and theater games. We will start our journey by reading a short one-act play, and by the end of the week we will use all that we have learned to turn those written words into a one-act performance complete with simple costumes, scenery, and props. Flight to Germany
Germany, what could you see and do there? Is the life of German kids at home and at school a lot like kids in the U.S.? Kids on the Flight to Germany will explore the daily life of kids their own age, learn a new language through songs and games, and hands-on activities using books, magazines, and audio-visuals. They'll learn historical and cultural facts too. Did you know that a real German castle was the model for the Disney World castle? Join us on our trip to Germany!

So You Think You Can Dance

You will work through several different styles including hip hop, contemporary, and jazz, learn how to properly warm up, and learn many foundation moves. Art With a Computer
In this class we will explore Microsoft Paint and learn to draw and create designs on the computer using this software program. Your Paint images can be uploaded into Adobe Photoshop to create different versions of the original art. Using a scanner, you will upload your photos or art work into Photoshop, and you will explore the possibilities available in Photoshop to change, enhance and alter original photographs. After learning many aspects of this program, you will be able to create unique, interesting art.

Myths & Monsters
Does the Loch Ness monster really exist? Can we find it? Answer these and many more questions as we set off to discover the truth behind the myth. Learn about vampire lore in Connecticut, accounts of Sasquatch sightings, and so much more. Create your own monster and give others a scare too! Some potential activities might include Understand geography with Loch Ness, reading actual reports of Sasquatch, discussing the history of the unicorn, designing our own monsters, learning to analyze footprints and tracks, etc.

Trash to Treasure
Combine your boundless creativity with a passion for saving the earth as we find new uses for discarded items. Transform an old T-shirt into a handy tote bag, a romantic blouse or a practical knitted dishcloth. Felt cast-off wool sweaters to create a trendy scarf or eye catching holiday ornaments. Use an old book to fashion a cute purse. Cardboard cereal boxes become personal photo albums, journals, books…or maybe even decorative storage for your bedroom. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

Up, Up and Away: Fundamentals of Flight
Have you ever wanted to soar through the clouds? Take off on an adventure through the history and principles of flight where we will trace the development of flight from ancient China to today’s space shuttle program. Go fly a kite, construct a returning boomerang, and use special folding techniques to create a Frisbee, helicopter and a dozen different airplane designs from paper. Pilot a mini hot air balloon and launch an “Alka Seltzer” rocket.

Patterns Patterns Everywhere
How many patterns can you see around you each day? We will explore the science behind the patterns and then use them to create a daily craft project. During the week you will design your own T-shirt, weave a split reed basket, create drawings with tessellations, make kaleidoscopes or rain sticks, and try your hands at origami. Come be creative with the patterns all around us!

Art Detectives
Discover some of the world's most famous artists as we take a daily journey through one art period. Each class will focus on one major and fun artist from that period. Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, Georgia O'Keefe and others! You will begin by learning some basic historical background about each featured artist and period, and then move on to creating your own art in this artist's style. At the end of each day we will have an art opening and critique (parents welcome!), culminating in one big retrospective show on the final day.
