Quinebaug Middle College
This regional magnet high school, which opened its doors in 2008, offers an innovative educational experience to non-traditional learners who are capable students, but in danger of dropping out of school. Located on the Quinebaug Valley Community College campus in Danielson, the provides students with the individual support they need to succeed, while they complete their high school education, attend college classes and earn college credits. Community service, internships and student engagement are essential educational components of this unique high school/college experience. Open to grades 10-12 in 2011-12.
Benefits: Quinebaug Middle College offers an alternative high school experience for disengaged students who might not otherwise complete school. Once their academic standing is established, students may take college courses at Quinebaug Valley Community College. Students can graduate with both their high school degree and college credits. Mastery is required in this student-focused, 21st-Century curriculum. The school expands choices for northeastern Connecticut high school students and their sending districts.
QMC is run by EASTCONN, a public, non-profit agency that has been serving the educational needs of schools, organizations, communities, and individuals of all ages in northeastern Connecticut since 1980.
