The Barnes Seminar

Each Spring just after the end of classes, the Center For Teaching sponsors the "Barnes Seminar," modeled after the "Great Teachers Seminar" tradition. This is hosted at the Mercy Center in Madison, CT, and is a three-day overnight retreat. The focus of the Seminar is the collegial sharing of teaching experiences from the past year, in a relaxing and informal atmosphere. Each college in the System generally sends about three people to the retreat, and there is often a waiting list at many campuses due to the popularity of the seminar.
