Job-Focused Training Programs

The Continuing Education area of CPL provides training to people in a variety of career programs, including certified nursing assistant, emergency medical technician, real estate agent, medical billing and coding, EKG technician and many computer skills areas. Training programs frequently change in response to regional employment needs. Some programs are also available at our Willimantic Center.

Certification and Recertification Programs

Certification training is offered in a variety of topics including Microsoft and Cisco specialties, Webmaster, video game production, computer networking and security. Recertification training is offered for professionals to maintain licenses or certifications. Options are frequently available for real estate agents and brokers, computer technology professionals and electricians.

Online Academy

This academy offers you the opportunity to take courses without leaving your home and to schedule them at your convenience. As long as you have access to the Internet, you can participate in courses in a wide range of areas and personal interest topics with people from around the globe. There are currently hundreds of courses to choose from. Some examples include Grant Writing, Paralegal, Quickbooks, Writing and Publishing, Digital Photography and many more. Our Online Academy literally brings the world to your home and desktop.

Kids Academy

A stimulating and fun academic style program for children ages 6 through 14. Courses are available 5 weeks during the summer and during school break weeks in the winter and spring. Summer options are also available at our Willimantic Center.

Learning in Retirement

Learning in Retirement or LiR is designed to stimulate and provide the means for intellectual and social activity in retirement, with peer leadership and group participation. Founded in 1994, LiR is an independent, self-governing membership driven organization under the auspices of the Center for Community and Professional Learning. Courses and programs are offered in the fall, winter and spring of each year.

Connecticut Rider Education Program

QVCC offers the Connecticut Motorcycle Basic Rider Education Program. This is for people with little to no experience and fulfills the requirements of a State approved novice rider course for licensing purposes. Upon successful completion of the course, DMV will waive the riding portion of the Motorcycle License application for the first 60 days.
