QVCC - Financial Aid
Scholarship Information
Scholarships
and awards are presented in May of each year to
continuing and graduating students whose academic achievement and/or
service to the College merit special recognition. Several
scholarships are also available for new students who have recently
graduated or will be graduating from high school in the spring and
plan on enrolling at QVCC in the fall. Consult the Financial Aid Office for specific
information since availability and eligibility criteria may change
from year to year.
There are more than forty competitive scholarships to which eligible students may apply for award consideration. Since individual scholarship amounts and eligibility requirements are subject to change annually, applications are available soon after March 1 each spring semester. Community members and organizations, student organizations, and the Quinebaug Valley Community College Foundation provide funding for these scholarships. A Foundation Scholarship Committee reviews submitted applications in April to select the scholarship recipients.
Please apply early to allow enough time to produce an application which will make a favorable impression, and to be able to collect the letters of recommendation that are required for scholarships. Applications and assistance are available in the Learning & Student Development Office on the Danielson campus and at the main desk at the Willimantic Center. Deadline for applications is April 7, 2008.
Scholarship Award Procedure
Scholarship applicants are screened by an impartial committee from the QVCC Foundation, based on the criteria of the scholarship. Scholarship awards are made annually at Awards Night held on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 7:00 pm. Recipients are notified in advance of the ceremony and are required to attend to receive their awards.
