SEXUAL HARASSMENT

The College prohibits harassment of any person on the basis of sex. This includes those seeking employment, students, or employees. "Sexual harassment" for the purpose of this policy statement is defined as any unwelcome sexual advance, request for sexual favors, or any conduct of a sexual nature when

  1. submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of an individual’s employment or a factor in an individual’s grade or evaluation,
  2. submission to or rejection of such conduct is used as the basis for employment decisions unreasonably interfering with an individual’s work performance, or
  3. when such behavior creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working or learning environment.

All members of the College workforce and student body are enjoined to conduct themselves in accord with the College policy of prohibiting sexual harassment. In adhering to this policy, QVCC abides by the requirements and procedures of its Affirmative Action Plan as approved by the Board of Trustees of Regional Community Colleges and the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities.

The College also abides by the rights of students as stated in Section 6 of the Policies on Student Rights and Discipline as approved by the Board of Trustees of Regional Community Colleges. Employees of the College and students should report incidents of sexual harassment through their supervisor, Dean of Learning and Student Development, or college president.
