"Have Mel work here....forever!!!"
"I would like to see an improvement of books. The books seem to be old and they need to be updated. I would rather go all the way to UConn in Storrs to find relevant information. "
"People in the library including the staff need to use their library voices - something I have never witnessed. However, you are very nice."
"Subscribe to Morningstar and or additional investment resources"
"I would like to see more books available for research"
"More computers and chairs for the students to chill and relax. And we should also have answer key booklets for all the books available here at QVCC, so that we can get an extra hundred."
"Friday Happy Hour from 2:00-3:00"
"Keep up the outstanding good work. My clients appreciate the service."
"I would like to see more journal titles, the library does a great job ordering teaching materials as needed. I do understand the limitations of the small college and small college budget. "
"Maintain the cheerful, outgoing staff. It's a very welcoming place."

"Expansion."
"Later hours"
"i just wanted to say...that QV's library is considered a "teaching" library, and they have designated rooms for studying students...so for the people who find the library to be too loud. quite complaining and use a "STUDY" room or study at home if you need COMPLETE SILENCE...after all..the library is for everyone, not just you."
"i would suggest that people in the library including the staff SHOULDNT use library voices considering it's not supposed to be a quiet library. if u want library voices go to killingly public library, where they actually charge you money when your late with a book!.. be grateful."
"Have library staff located at the back of the library as well."
"put microsoft office on the computers, power point, word, excel, cs2"
"none"
"In willimantic, we need more room and quiet areas. Staff is very helpful. Earplugs do not help. Danielson has study rooms, those who complain so much, should visit the willimantic library. We have a lot more to complain about. We don't have a broad selection of material to be checked out. We rely mostly on electronic sources. Books are limited. We have a limited number of computers and we can't even connect our laptops to the network. I can go on an on, but there is such a division between campuses and no one seems to care about it. Danielson is expanding their building, but we can't even get newer computers in our lab. We have the old ones! Which are indeed very old and slow. If we didn't use the computers as often I would not be complaining about them, but the willimantic students use the computer lab and the library very often. I want Danielson to keep expanding, I think this is great -- as I also take classes there-- but the Willimantic students should also benefit from this, and we're not benefiting from the new building because not all of us can travel there. "
"Expan the willimantic library space and hours..."
"I have enjoyed using the library. I wish that I had time to read books and magazines there for fun."
"Some books need to be update...2000 or newer for research!"
"In complete honesty, I rarely have the time to sit down and use the library in an effective manner. Hopefully in the future I can utilize this resource more fully."
"Please keep noise levels down. Librarians are talking loudly, calling hello to passersby in the hall, having lengthy discussions in the stacks."
"Microsoft word on the computers! Instead of doing your research, then gathering everything together to move next door!"
"I love the QVCC library staff and would run away to Bali with Sharon Moore given half the chance."
"My entire program is online and I have only been in the library once to get a student ID. The staff was very helpful. "
"More hours, more staff. . .and cracker jacks!"
"have a better place to study that is quiet"
"Need night hours for Friday."
"nothing"
"Free copy services for students, or offer copy center cards for minimal cost to students."
"A extra room in Willimantic where students can interact with tutor or study by themselves."
"How about a reading club offering to students and the community at large the opportunity to read and discuss books chosen by the professional staff of the library? Longer hours every day of the week may not make sense but a few later night hours would be helpful as well as opening library at 8 AM which is an hour before classes start. As it is now, if one has a 9 AM class and wants to get something from the library before class it is difficult, though the library staff do open a wee bit early frequently which is much appreciated. UCONN has crazy library hours and I am sure due to the size of QVCC we could never compete with them it wouldn't hurt to try to offer a bit more. For instance in the spring semester, maybe opening up at 6 AM from the beginning of May until exams are over? The staff is phenomenal! They are are not just helpful but they display a willingness and a delight at being able to help. Questions, comments and concerns are met with receptiveness. These fine folks are always listening and trying to do their best to accomodate students needs."
"MSWord on internet computers."
"I have been using the library primarily for some quiet study hours to brush up before a test. It seems that people keep their cell phones on and feel free to use them in the library. People get a little loud at times and it tends to disrupt studying. That is really the only concern I have. Talking quietly among other students is ok, but when the laughter gets loud and others are trying to study, it's a little upsetting. Even the cell phones get to be a real pain. "
"Hire more library staff"
"keep up the good work!"
"get more up to date books on central africa.... but aside from that keep up the good work"
"The library does a good job as it is. Any improvements that could be made i think would be that the hours are expanded more, if that is possible."
"to be more quite it is not a social library it is a study library"
"Free copies! and the ability to use word up here i really dont like the other computer lab this one is much nicer."
"make the computers in the lab better machines. get a new tech. man here"
"microsfoft word in the computers"
"more books"
"Until I took this survey I didn't know there was an online catalog, electronic database. I didn't even know you did training sessions. Do you do these at night? I am a part-time student and go only at night."
"sometimes it is a little noisy in the library which makes studying difficult. the noise is usually due to the tutoring of other students, so i guess it's not really a solvable problem for now."
"It's fine as it is. Librarians are most helpful and knowledgeable. "
"More books. Increase library employee salaries"
"A silent study room!"
"I feel the library is well stocked, professionally maintained, and managed. I enjoy the staff! "
"Make a place were students can talk in the library with out be told to be quiet. "
"More Saturday hours. Newer editions of some books. More children's books."
"Put Microsoft Office 2003 on the library computers at danielson, or at least let us use notepad. It's rough having to write all of the notes down off of stuff we've been researching @ the library for no reason."
"Improvement needed??? ...... where? All is funky-dory!"
"open lib. at 7-8ish in the morning... thats it... and also more poetry books.. not just poets that have been critiqued. Like actual books that were published my the poet."
"I don't think students use it enough. This term I had a project and a student went, unsuccessfully, to public library unaware that our library staff could help her. Also I have found students are uneducated in "smart" use of the net for research. I have spoken with a staff and I will try to address this better next term. As adjunct faculty I am also unaware if i am allowed to ask for help in gathering materials for a specific assignment. I don't have a lot of time to search and see what you have and I wonder if library staff or student staff ever do that for us? Thanks for asking, Lisa Oransoff"
"nothing "
"coffee/latte bar"
"I have no suggestions, but I want to say that I know who the Beatles are, and they sing great songs but I don't have a favorite. I also want to say that I can't answer a lot of question because I do't use the library. I do log in from home and I use the electronic databases to get research for my homework and i find that very useful."
"It's hard because the library in Willimantic is so small, but I think having a separate study room where studens could study in groups without interupting the students that wish to study in silence would be a good idea. Also, having a "quiet corner" where students could borrow headpieces that would block out sound might work. I just find that finding a quiet place to study is near impossible anyplace in Willimantic, whereas I noticed, on a visit to the Danielson branch, that there were more places to study without being interupted. As an example, the room where the CLEP tests are offered is separate from the rest. I am planning to do this for Spanish and I can not imagine taking this in Willimantic. I would take the drive to Danielson especially for this. I would feel badly for other students that did not have access to transportation to Danielson for this purpose."
"A sign that shows how to use whatever cataloguing system you have. If it's an online database, then diagram it for dummie users. I didn't know where to search for my book when I did, so I had to ask an assistant for help. I would rather have taken care of it myself but did not know how."
"more friday and saturday hours"
"perhaps a larger science fiction section? the library seems a bit to "open", that is, there are not enough enclosed or partitioned areas devoted soley for studying. "
"(Willimantic) The library should be quiet. I would like a place other than the library to get help on homework so I would not disturb others. I would like to say that the people at QVCC are great! They really care that you are learning and bend over backwards to help. Thank-You"
"nothing I think its great the way it is."
"I believe you are doing a great job in the library. Anytime I needed help everyone was very helpful."
"Nothing but I would like to compliment the staff for there readiness and willingness to study. I was allowed to check out more movies than allowed in order to preview them for showing to student body. "
"books"
"Keep noise level to a minimum please. Talking is okay, but loud talking and fooling around is very distracting to those of us trying to study."
"Nothing, it's great. I love books and reading so the library is sufficient for my needs as a student and leisure reader."
"Identify the apple on the web site. It is ridiculous for such a useful tool to be disguised in this way. The new user shouldn't have to be told by a friend what this is. Improve selection of Spanish language subject area books for students struggling with English. Improve selection of borrow-able books well known for their ability to explain academic areas to novices. This doesn't mean you should buy "for Dummies" books from the Job Lot. There are other books out there, and if the person looking for them is actually concerned with beginning students' difficulties, they will be readily identified and will be borrowed often. "
"Willimantic needs help, a lot of help. We need quiet areas and places for students to meet."
"Last semester when I went in to read or finish my school work it was difficult to get anything done. The computer lab was quiter. Never been back to library."
"I have nothing to say."
"Have no suggestion at this present time."
"getting more books, maybe making an addition to add more books for pleasure."
"This is cool"
"This is a test"
