What's hard about doing research:
- Finding the time to actually do it
- Needing online journals and magazines, I do not always find what I need on those resources.
- No worries here.
- finding a topic
- Citing more online sources with no authors and really long domain names
- NA
- Due to my own ignorance, navigating the computer.
- avalibility of computers when classroom is being used
- N/A

- Nothing
- None
- Finding the right articles
- N/a
- Finding the exact type of article.
- Small space
- What sources I should you use and why? What sources would give my paper validity compared to others.
- hmm, i would say not being educated enough on how to use a library or where to start, not because the library is inadequate, but lack of library knowledge on my part
- picking the keywords that will get me the info I need.
- I have a short attention span as it is and the noise level doesnt help much. Library staff especially have loud, penetrating voices. The library is also almost always too warm, its hard to stay awake while doing work
- Focusing, but that's a personal problem, not the library's.
- Getting off my butt and doing it.
- Doing it.
- Understanding where to find books within the stacks. I'm not sure what system the library uses to organize books, but I was not readily able to interpret it.

- Time to research it.
- trying not to get distracted by other people around me. I prefer to resarch in solotude
- Being distracted by all that Red Sox stuff . . .
- The database searches have changed and I cannot find newspaper and magazine articles anymore. Clearly I need to stop in for a consultation because the current format is too frustrating to me.
- Being distracted by all the Red Sox stuff in Sharon's office. Why can't we have an equal opportunity library??
- The odd occasion when the only available computers are Macs. But that's only because I find Macs insufferable to work with.

Your comments:
"Some fresh paint, improve the HVAC, maybe some mood lighting." (What kind of mood were you looking for?)
"I'm not sure. I like it the way it is." (Thank you.)
"No improvement necessary" (Thanks again.)
"More current (popular) literature " (We have been adding tp this collection. Check the New Books tab on the Online catalog. Anything you'd like to suggest?)
"More copies of killing us softly :)" (Just ordered another.)
"Expand hours of operation." (We'd need more staff which would mean more money . . .)
"Put up quiet signs" (We have posted Quiet Study Area signs for the back area of the library. For the front of the library that's always going to be noisier.)
"Be open on Saturday for a few hours." (This would definetly take more staff and more money.)
"More computers, more space to sit, more quiet areas, more librarians, more books, more dvds, more of everything. And fix the AC in the classroom area, it's always too hot!" (Good news! The library will be exapnding during the construction project about to begin. Bad news: they won't start on the library intil next summer.)
"Just let them do their job" (We've been trying to get them to do their jobs for years.)
"Do you do kindle library loans? I would love to see that." (The Library currently has almost 90,000 eBooks which can be downloaded to various eBook readers. We haven't yet tested a Kindle Fire to know for sure.)
"A puppy?" (What's better than a puppy? A pile of puppies!)
"Dunkin donuts" (We'd settle for the coffee bar (and maybe a balcony).)
"Open earlier in the morning" (Although we officially open at 9:00 we are usually open at 8:30.)
" I have to think about that, maybe, hum, not sure." (Get back to us.)
"NA" (Sha-Na-Na?)
"Haven't and suggestions. It is pretty fine-tuned. " (Like a fine Italian racing car.)
"Open 1 hour earlyer because a lot of students need to print things before class and do not have axcess to a computer that can use a usb device. Plus there are a lot of students that wait for an hour just to use a computer." (We are shooting for a half hour before classes now which is about all current staffing allows. Remember the computer lab also opens at 8:30 for printing.)
"N/A" (Sha-N/a-N/a?)
"Everything is really good for me." (OK then.)
"Computers in the quiet study area" (We've thought about it but came to the conclusion that having computers back there would encourage more noise which we wanted to avoid back there.)
"N/A" (Again with the Sha-N/a-N/a?)
"Nothing really" (OK.)
"Put more computers" (Put them where? When we complete the library addition there will be an expanded classroom area in the new space.)
"Provide quiet spaces." (You are aware of the quiet space in the back of the library? It's usually not that crowded.)
"Make it bigger." (We will. Stay tuned.)
"Offer more contemporary fiction." (We've been adding quite a bit of contemporary fiction for a while now. Check the new books display just inside the door of the library.)
"Again, nothing comes to mind. I have found the library to be an invaluable asset to my students, partly because of its resources but mainly because of its staff. " (Thanks.)
"Have more Mac computers" (Don't really have any place to put more Mac computers at the moment.)
"Get more leisurely reading books as well as 'literature' books." (Any suggestions of leisure reading?)
"Space" (The final frontier.)
"Nothing" (Nothing?)
"Give me a job working with the library staff." (Would we have to pay you?)
"Open bar" (I like the way you think.)
"Perhaps have more office supplies so that students who are working on projects and papers can have them to use; staplers, paper clips, ect...." (More than the staples, paper, sciccors, glue, markers, pens & pencils, paper clips, envelopes and colored pencils or markers we already provide? Not that we mind of course . . .)
"Find a way to bring a more selection of books to the Willimantic center." (There have been plans in the works for some time to at least increase the size of the library in Willimantic. We will expand the collection some at that time.)
" I really cant think of anything, i am just so fortunate to have a library, computer, or means to do my school work, thankyou to everyone who makes it possible!!!" (Thank you. We wouldn't have a library without patrons.)
"More fiction books." (We've been trying. Check the New Books tab in the online catalog once in a while for a list.)
"Have more science resources in the data bases" (Although there are significant scientific resources in our current databases we are aware that some sections of science need beefing up. We've been on the lookout for something appropriate.)
" ...the new addition...if and when" (If and when really.)
"Hmm, I can't think of anything. You guys keep this place ship-shape!" (Ahoy matie!)
"Pets. Library mascot cat." (This would be a lonely kitty from Friday afternoon till Monday morning.)
"I said this last year and I'll say it again. Library pet." (Not to sya anything of the litter box.)
"You might consider posting resources to help interpret the book organization system. If these already exist, perhaps consider making them more visible." (Do you mean guides explaining the Library of Congress call number system (there are a few of these around the library and on our website) or do you mean a floor map of the library itself?)
"I can't think of anything." (What is the sound of one hand clapping?)
"I would like to see newer technology (Nooks, Kindles, Web Cams, Headsets, CPU Programs) in the library as well as more study rooms, lower noise level, available headsets, and more classes on using Microsoft office programs. It would be nice to have more up-to-date books, but I think the newer technology takes priority. As for the Bonus question, I like to read, but I prefer to do it on a Nook, or Kindle." (We do have some Kindles, a couple of iPads, several webcams and various other technologies but unfortunetly not for general loan. We use them to be able to learn hoe to help you with these devices.)
"Nothing, the library is great." (Thanks.)
"Get more Apple computers." (Where would we put them.)
"Open at 8 am." (Perhaps when the Middle College eventually hire a school librarian.)
"Nothing." (NaDa?)
"Add more computers" (There's not really much space for new computers until the addition to the library is completed.)
"Carry more books." (I guess that would be good exercise.)
"I have no idea." (Again, the sound of one hand clapping.)
"Not much to my knowledge, however ask Amy." (What should we ask her?)
"Update the computer stations whose computers are running too slow" (We've just received a number of new PCs to be replacing the oldest machines in the library classroom. It sould make a difference.)
"More space for books or maybe place some shelves in non-book areas. I love the display at the entrance for new books and it would be bangin to have some other interesting shelves scattered throughout the place. Maybe a critical thinking book display, and maybe a paper list of new acquisitions that people can check on the wall. Also some Yankee memorabilia would be a nice counterpoint to the Red Sox propaganda . . ." (More space for book displays? Perhaps when we expand. Yankee memorabilia? I wouldn't hold your breath.)
"Can't" (Can. In fact Can-can!)
"More room and a coffee bar. (Have you looked into having a local Dunkin Donuts open a small satellite "shop" where part of the proceeds go to a library fund?) " (More room we're getting. A coffee bar we'd like but we also wanted a balcony . . .)
"Not much really . . . Except there are a few computer mice that stick/are incredibly, painfully slow." (We have just received some new, faster PCs. We'll get them in just as soon as we get some display adapters.)
"hmmm . . . Open more hours!! I would love it if the library opened at 7am, not 9am when all my classes start." (With the staff we have currently we try to make 8:30 every morning. It's unlikly we'll ever get to 7:00 without more staff.)
"add more computers" (Adding.)
"Have the louder people go somewhere else and do their work." (We do what we can but we will never be a quiet library. We believe too much in dialog, group study and student interaction to ever quiet it down too much. We do try to keep the quiet study area as quiet as possible however.)
"I think it's effective as is." (Thanks.)
"More hours" (25?)
"Facebook or other social network restrictions." (We've tried very hard not to restrict our users access to information although we do reserve the right to ask a patron to give up a seat, if necessary, for a student with an academic need.)
"Is it possible to find a computer lab to use to explain the computer usage and Blackboard systems and the online library to students, so part of the library isn't blocked off and students kicked off of computers on some days?" (Actually, the library classroom area was developed specifically to teach library instruction classes - not Blackboard or general computer usage. As such you will be ocassionaly asked to find another computer.)
"Make it more appealing to the eye. There are some tacky objects in there . . ." (Ouch! Ihope you're not refering to the art work, or the Lava lamps, or the USB missle launcher, or the red velvet Buddha, or the beach umbrellas, or the . . .)
"Update and increase the articles in the database." (Databases. There are thousands of them in there, updated daily, although there may be embargos on just how recent an article might be. Are you suggesting we should have some new databases covering new areas of study?)
"Not a thing. It's great!" (Thanks. So are you.)
"Install more power outlets near tables" (Not so easy to do with concrete floors and steel columns, We have asked for some floor outlets in the new addition.)
"I don't know" (We're here to help you know.)
"Possibly put a few computers in the silent study room for the days I forget mine and wish to work in a quiet environment." (Computers in the quiet study area would make it harder to keep that area quiet. That's a problem.)
"Organize class specific study sessions, maybe announce them on the website. also possibly have group discussions on specific topics to get the younger groups more interested in things such as politics etc." (Not a bad idea although class specific study sessions would best be organized by faculty. In conjunction with faculty we have, and will continue to, offer book circles where a group commits to reading and discussing a particular book. This semester the book was "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks".)
"More books in the library" ("Mo Books" - maybe we should get that in latin?)
"I'm a "satisfied customer." The library has to work within a budget; that limits its holdings. But I've been able to get what I've needed through inter-library loan. Perhaps the library could encourage reading for pleasure by making a more prominant display of recent releases. The library has a fine DVD selection. I don't use it, however, because of the three-day loan policy. If that were extended to a full week, I would love to take movies out! (I am an adjunct faculty member; usually I come to campus just once a week.) It seems to me that the friendly and informal atmosphere of the library suits the ethos of QVCC perfectly. I like it just fine! " (Thanks for the satisfaction. As far as the loan period for DVDs go did you know that you can renew a DVD? From home? Automatically? That would pretty much get you a week.)
