Quick Guides

Room PC

1. Touch the face of the touch--screen to bring it to life. If necessary touch it again to start the audio-visual system.
2. From the "Sources" section of the touch-screen display press the "Projector Control" icon. Press "Power ON".
3. Move the mouse to wake up the PC, or turn on the Room PC or monitor if necessary.
4. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to log onto the Room PC. See IT if you're not sure of your username or password.
5. Load whatever USB drive, CD-Rom, webpage, or other resources you may have brought with you.
6. If you have brought a wireless mouse or presentation remote with you place it's USB receiver into one of the PCs USB ports. This might take a moment to be recognized.
7. Now that the projector has warmed up press the "Room PC" icon to send the signal from the PC to the LCD projector.
8. Use the volume controls (top-right of the touch-screen) to adjust the volume of any audio you may have within you presentation.
9. At the end of you presentation press the Exit System icon on the touch-screen to shut down the audio-visual system. Remember to log off the PC and take any USB drives, CD's, etc. with you.

Report any difficulties with the PC (logging on, running software, internet access) to the IT department as soon as possible.

Laptop

1. Touch the face of the touch--screen to bring it to life. If necessary touch it again to start the audio-visual system.
2. From the "Sources" section of the touch-screen display press the "Projector Control" icon. Press "Power ON".
3. Locate the laptop monitor cord and the laptop input on top of the teacher's station. The input is the 15 pin VGA plug contained in the small black pop-up on top of each teachers station. The cord (if it's not already attached to the plug-in) should be in the small drawer or shelf of the respective teachers station. Note that this cord includes an audio cable as well. The mini-RCA plug goes into the corresponding receptacle on the pop-up and the other end goes into the headphones plug-in on your laptop.
4. Start up your laptop. Load your presentation.
5. Once your laptop is up and running press the "Laptop" icon on the touch-screen to display it's signal to the LCD projector. If your laptop does NOT display AND you are pretty sure that you've connected the cable correctly then you should check to see if you have turned on your laptops "monitor-out" port (where you plugged the cable in). On most laptops this is accomplished by pressing a combination of the colored Fn keys. Usually Fn+F3 or Fn+F4. There are three choices to cycle through - laptop-screen ON/monitor-out OFF, laptop-screen OFF/monitor-out ON, and laptop-screen ON/monitor-out ON. If you still can't see an image on screen it's time to get help.
6. If necessary use the "Auto Picture" button to adjust the position and size of the image displayed by the projector. If this doesn't work consider changing your screen resolution. 1024 x 768 is a good selection.
7. Use the volume controls and mute button at the top-right of the touch-screen to control any audio include in your presentation.
8. Press the "Exit System" button at the end of your presentation to shut down the audio-visual system. Please remember to disconnect the laptop monitor cord and replace it in the drawer or on the shelf where you found it.

If you are having trouble figuring out how to turn on your laptops monitor port ON, bring it with you to the library or to the computer labs in advance of classes.

DVD Player

1. Touch the face of the touch--screen to bring it to life. If necessary touch it again to start the audio-visual system.
2. From the "Sources" section of the touch-screen display press the "Projector Control" icon. Press "Power ON".
3. Locate the DVD/CD Player in the equipment rack. It is located on the right side of the combination DVD/VHS player. Locate the "Open/Close" button (it should be marked with a small red dot). Insert your DVD.
4. From the "Sources" section of the touch-screen display press the DVD/CD icon to load the DVD controls and display the DVD image to the projector. If necessary, press the projector's "Video Mute" button on the touch-screen to blank the screen.
5. The DVD controls include the standard "Stop", "Play", and "Pause" buttons as well as previous and next scenes ("Chap-" and "Chap+") and fast forward and reverse ("Scan-" and "Scan+"). Use the cursor buttons, the "Menu" and "Enter" buttons to maneuver the DVD's menus if necessary. If you touch the small preview area of the touch-screen this preview will expand to full screen. Touch it again to return to the normal view.
6. Use the volume controls and mute button at the top-right of the touch-screen to control the volume from your DVD.
7. At the conclusion of your film press the "Stop" button on the touch-screen and locate the "Open/Close" button on the front of the DVD player (remember the red dot?).
8. Once you're retrieved your DVD press the "Exit System" icon to shut down the audio-visual system.

Videotape Player

1. Touch the face of the touch--screen to bring it to life. If necessary touch it again to start the audio-visual system.
2. From the "Sources" section of the touch-screen display press the "Projector Control" icon. Press "Power ON".
3. Locate the Videotape Player in the equipment rack. It's on the left side of the combination DVD/VHS player. Insert your videotape.
4. From the "Sources" section of the touch-screen display press the VHS icon to load the VCR controls and display the videotape image to the projector. If necessary, press the projector's "Video Mute" button on the touch-screen to blank the screen.
5. The VCR controls include the standard "Stop", "Play", and "Pause" buttons as well as fast forward and reverse ("FFwd" and "Rev"). If you touch the small preview area of the touch-screen this preview will expand to full screen. Touch it again to return to the normal view.
6. Use the volume controls and mute button at the top-right of the touch-screen to control the volume from your videotape.
7. At the conclusion of your film press the "Stop" button on the touch-screen to stop the tape and the "Stop/Eject" button on the front of the videotape player to eject the tape (marked with a small red dot).
8. Once you're retrieved your DVD press the "Exit System" icon to shut down the audio-visual system.

Document Camera

1. Unless you are in the science lab (room W208) you will need to get the shared document camera from the library. You should make a media request at least 24 hours in advance for this item. Document camera manual.
2. Touch the face of the touch--screen to bring it to life. If necessary touch it again to start the audio-visual system.
3. From the "Sources" section of the touch-screen display press the "Projector Control" icon. Press "Power ON".
4. Plug in the document camera and take the monitor cord that should be attached to it and connect it to the corresponding VGA plug-in labeled "Doc Cam" on the front of the equipment rack. Take the second cord coming from the document camera and connect it to the "Video" input on the front of the equipment rack (adjacent to the "Doc Cam" input). This cable will provide the preview screen on the Doc Camera section of the touch-screen.
5. From the "Sources" section of the touch-screen press the "Doccam" icon to send the document camera image to the projector and load preview screen.
6. The document camera has a zoom IN and a zoom OUT button and an "Auto Focus" button (ON or OFF). Next to the "Power" button there is a "Light" button. The camera head on the unit can be rotated and has a small tray to insert slides. View the full manual or the full feature set.
7. Once you are finished with the camera press the "power" button to turn it off, and disconnect the monitor, video, and power cords. After class return the document camera to the library.
8. Press the "Exit System" icon to shut down the audio-visual system.

If you have any difficulties with the document camera, or if you would like further instructions on it's use, come to the library.

Auxiliary Video Inputs

The auxiliary video input consists of one video in plug and one left and one right audio input. These can be used to input the signal from any video device that has a line-out such as a camcorder or palmcorder or even a video iPod. Be sure to bring the cables that came with your device to make this work.

1. Touch the face of the touch--screen to bring it to life. If necessary touch it again to start the audio-visual system.
2. From the "Sources" section of the touch-screen display press the "Projector Control" icon. Press "Power ON".
3. Locate the "Aux Video" inputs on the face of the equipment rack. Plug in the audio and video out cables from your device here. You may need an adapter for the video plug in to go from what is most likely a male RCA plug on your cable to a male BNC (bayonet style) connector. You can get one of these in the library. The audio inputs can be used by themselves without the projector to play a simple audio signal.
4. Press the "Aux Video" icon on the touch-screen to load the Aux Video preview window and send the signal to the projector and speakers.
5. At the conclusion of your presentation disconnect you cables and press the "Exit System" icon to shut down the audio visual system.

Cable TV

Each teachers station is equipped with a cable TV feed that can be displayed through the LCD projector and heard through the in-class sound system. Currently, QV receives basic cable service from Eastern Connecticut cable. (Daily schedule). Channels 13, 19, and 26 are utilized for in-school informational displays.

1. Touch the face of the touch--screen to bring it to life. If necessary touch it again to start the audio-visual system.
2. From the "Sources" section of the touch-screen display press the "Projector Control" icon. Press "Power ON".
3. Press the "Cable TV" icon in the Sources section of the touch-screen to bring up the cable TV controls and to display this feed to the projector. Use the dialpad or the "Up" and "Down" channel indicators to select the channel you want. The feed will be displayed in the small preview window. Touch the preview section of the touch-screen for a full-screen preview. Touch it again to return to the control screen,
4. Use the volume controls and mute button at the top-right of the touch-screen to control the volume.
5. At the conclusion of your presentation, press the "Exit System" icon to shut down the audio-visual system.
