REPORT PREPARATION

In November 2005 the NEASC Steering Team was appointed by President Williams. The composition of this Team was strategic, to combine those experienced with the NEASC process and those who did not have experience but had a high probability of being at the College in five years when the full reaccreditation process would take place. This combination was true for the co-chairs as well. Those selected have credibility within the organization and a commitment to task.

Jayne Battye—a new Instructor of Political Science who was formerly the part time Associate Director of Career Services

David Baty—a manager who is Director of the Community and Professional Learning Division and had participated in the SACS accreditation process when at a community college in Florida

Delia Berlin—the Director of the Willimantic Center who co-chaired the 1996 Five Year Report Steering Team and served on the 2001 Self-Study Team

Pam Brown—the Director of Outreach and Employment Services

Beth Alves—Instructor in English

Dr. Brian Donohue-Lynch—Professor of Anthropology/Sociology co-chaired the 2001 Self-Study Team and has served on teams evaluating other colleges for NEASC. For the Spring 2006 semester he served as the Coordinator of Curriculum and Faculty Orientation. He was appointed to co-chair the team.

Cheri Goretti – Associate Professor of Medical Assisting

Matthew Hall—Director of Library Services who was selected to co-chair the team

Dean Susan Huard—Dean of Learning and Student Development who served on the 2001 Self-Study Team and has both served on and chaired teams for NEASC

Mark Vesligaj—Instructor of Technological Studies

Michelle Weiss—Director of Financial and Administrative Services

President Dianne E. Williams—involved on the 1996 Five Year Report Steering Team and the 2001 Self-Study Team

In addition, the following staff served as important resources for the initiative:

Dr. Julius Sokenu—Associate Professor of English who served on the 2001 Self Study Team and has served on NEASC evaluation teams

Dr. Donna Sohan—Director of Institutional Research

Donna Lefevre—Executive Assistant to the President who served on the 1996 Five Year Report Steering Team and the 2001 Self-Study Team and produced both documents.

Dr. Scott Deshong—Associate Professor of English edited the 2001 Self-Study and was selected to edit this Five Year Report

The co-chairs identified a member of the Steering Team to lead the development of each standard and the Areas of Special Emphasis. When the Steering Team met, they as a group identified the staff members to work with the leader on each standard or area. Ultimately, 60 members of the QVCC staff, the majority, were directly involved in preparing the report.

Each component of the report was discussed when submitted, and the report preparation was discussed at staff meetings and Cabinet meetings through the spring 2006 semester. The draft was sent electronically to all staff to elicit feedback at the May staff meeting. The report was then edited in early summer. The final copy as submitted is available online.
