Self Study and Report
The New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. (NEASC) was founded in 1885 and is the recognized accrediting association for all levels of education. QVCC was last granted continuing accreditation by NEASC in 1992 for the maximum allowable time of ten years. In 2000 Quinebaug Valley Community College undertook an intensive self-study process over an eighteen month period and then underwent a three day site visit in October 2001 by an evaluation team.
At a meeting of the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education on March 8, 2002, the College was granted continuing accreditation for the maximum period of ten years with an interim report in five years.
In the fall of 2005 preparations began for the Five Year Interim Report. To ensure the highest standards of accuracy, the College included internal and external constituencies throughout the process. This report addresses: (1) Points raised in the 2002 Reaccredidation Letter from Commission on Institutions of Higher Education; (2) Responses to the recently updated NEASC standards; and (3) Plans for the next five years. In addition, at NEASC’s request, the Report on Existing Academic Programming Offered Through Distance Education was completed, since QVCC now offers a certificate program online.
