Quinebaug Valley Community College Networking Program

NetPrep

The NetPrep program was developed by 3Com, Westnet.Inc and others to give students a solid foundation in networking. This program is vendor neutral, meaning that no one vendor's products or protocols are employed or taught.

Through this program, the student can take up to 8 courses in networking, everything from the fundamentals to network design and analysis. The first four courses teach the student about the fundamentals, Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), Network Architecture. After completing the first four, the student can take the first of two certification tests: NACSE Associate Network Specialist (NANS).

The last half of the program goes more in depth into networking: how the Internet works and the governing body behind the Internet in 'Internet Technologies', Internetworking Devices, Processes and Protocols and Network Design & Analysis. Once the final four courses are completed, and the student has successfully passed the NANS test, the student can then take the NACSE Senior Network Specialist (NSNS) exam.

For more information on the individual courses, go to the Course Syllabi page.

For more information on the certifications, please go to the NACSE site.
