Development Office.Wolanin, a native of Thompson, is a graduate of Pomfret School and Brown University. She returned to Pomfret School in 1992 to teach and work in the admissions office. She was appointed director of admissions and financial aid in 1997 and served in that capacity for seven years. During that time she received a master of education degree from Harvard University. Most recently she served as Marianapolis’s first development director where she created a major gifts program, managed the annual fund, and organized fundraising, alumni, parent and special events, including the school’s 80th birthday celebration. She also oversaw the creation and managed the content of the school web site. She lives in Pomfret with her husband and three sons.
“There are so many great local people committed to the college,” said
Wolanin, “both at the Foundation level and internally…all of whom said the
same thing: It’s a great place to be part of.” She likes the fact that the
Foundation’s mission is so clear. “My role is to help raise funds so that
all residents of NE CT, regardless of income, can attend QVCC,” she said.
“What a wonderful goal to work towards!”
Lomerson, a graduate of Salem State College, has a varied background that includes teaching, coaching, business, as well as development support. Following a stint as a business analyst for Dun & Bradstreet in Massachusetts, she served as administrative assistant to the general manager of the New Hampshire Thunderloons Basketball Organization. She subsequently served as assistant to the director of parent and corporate programs at Babson College and as assistant to the director of development for one of Brandeis’s graduate schools. After several years as development coordinator at the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology, she moved to Connecticut and has held several positions at Pomfret School. In addition, she has spent 14 years as a collegiate basketball referee, officiating in several division one, two and three conferences.
“Working at QVCC has been a great experience [so far],” said Lomerson. “The
moment I started, I felt as though I had another family.” She is impressed
with the professionalism of the faculty and staff, and the fact they are so
friendly and welcoming when approached. “I am very thankful for the
opportunity to work with such dedicated and thoughtful people,” she said.
