CELEBRATION OF HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH AT QVCC
Oswaldo
Tirano of Maese’s Pedro Puppet Theater will perform at Quinebaug Valley
Community College in Danielson on Wednesday, October 10th at six o’clock in
the evening, in the Robert E. Miller Auditorium. An additional performance
will take place on Monday, October 15th, 6pm at the QVCC Willimantic Center,
729 Main Street, Willimantic.
This hour-long performance is a combination of Puppets and Shadow Theater. This bilingual play deals with medieval castles and knights, as well as the relationship between Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, author of “Don Quixote”, while making a comparison with the work of William Shakespeare.
Tirano, a native of Colombia, South America, is a well known puppeteer and dance instructor in the Willimantic area. He came to the United States in 1998 to improve his skills in the puppetry arts program at UCONN. He has taught Latino dance with Arts in Motion and ACT as well as children programs in the public schools. Oswaldo has been a performer during the Third Thursday festival in Willimantic.
This event is co-sponsored by the QVCC Multicultural Program Planning Committee and the QVCC Student Government Association.
