ART DEDICATION WILL BE HELD AT QVCC WILLIMANTIC CENTER
The
Willimantic Center of Quinebaug Valley Community College will dedicate
several pieces of art recently
donated by local artist Patricia Browne at a reception on Monday, August 13.
A pencil drawing and five original watercolors now hang in the Center’s
lobby in downtown Willimantic.
Born in England, Brown is an accomplished watercolorist whose paintings are
crisp and fresh with attention paid to light and shadow. Her subject matter
is the familiar scene from a New England village: an old wooden door or a
brick house façade with interesting old windows. She also paints natural
objects and animals. Her work has won recognition in two continents,
including gold, silver, and bronze medals from the Royal Drawing Society of
London and awards from the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts and the
Connecticut Women Artists.
The reception/dedication will be held from 2:00—4:00 pm at the College’s 729 Main Street building. The public is invited to attend and light refreshments will be available. For planning purposes, please call the Willimantic Center at 423-1824 if you would like to attend.
