Robert Fernandez Appointed to Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission (3/12/12)
Robert Fernandez, director of financial aid at Quinebaug Valley Community College, was recently appointed to the State of Connecticut’s Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission (LPRAC). The appointment is effective immediately and term runs through January 31, 2014. Fernandez has worked for the College for 12 years and was formerly the QVCC Willimantic Center associate director.
“It is a great honor that the Connecticut Legislature has shown that much faith in me to appoint me to the LPRAC. I want to thank Senate President Donald Williams and House Speaker Donovan for the confidence they have shown in me, and the Dual Legislative Appointment. This will enable me to continue to serve and listen to the Hispanic Community in CT.”
The Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission (LPRAC) was created by an act of the Connecticut General Assembly (CGA). This 21 member non-partisan commission and staff are mandated to advise the CGA and the Governor on public policies that foster progress in the Latino communities residing in Connecticut.
