Construction of the New Facilities Underway
June 12, 2012- More than 130 attendees, including the entire Quinebaug Middle College (QMC) staff and student body, participated in the official groundbreaking ceremony at QVCC this morning at 11 am. Connecticut State Representative Mae Flexer '08 was on-hand and read a statement from State Senator, President Pro Tempore Donald E. Williams Jr. who was unable to attend the ceremony.
Speakers included QVCC President, Dr. Ross Tomlin: Mae Flexer: Chief Architect, The Connecticut Department of Construction Services, Bruce Bockstael;Vice President for Facilities and Infrstructure Planning ConnSCU, Elaine Clark: and Executive Director EASTCONN, Paula Colen.
The project includes 38,000 sq.ft. addition for the QMC and QVCC and 12,000 sq.ft. renovation to the existing cafeteria and library. The project is slated for completion in the winter of 2013.
