Student Poets Featured at Hygienic Art Gallery (5/31/12)
Nine QVCC student poets will be the featured guests at the First Thursday Poetry Series at Hygienic Arts in downtown New London, Conn. on Thursday, June 7, from 7-9 pm. Zach Watson, Craig Dziekan, Kevin Hernandez, Cindy Mercer, Alex Mejia, Steven Barcomb, Seanna Cottle, Eric Knapp, and Sarah St. George will each read original works of poetry.
The poetry series is directed by James Coleman, professor emeritus of English at Three Rivers Community College. Last fall he saw members of the Creative Writing Poetry class perform at the Willimantic Center. According to Jon Anderson, associate professor of English at QVCC and the instructor for the course, "He was so impressed that he asked to feature them in his long-running New London series."
