| For more than a dozen years,
Center For Teaching (CFT) has provided faculty development within the Connecticut
Community College System. Begun in 1987 with Barnes Seminar,
CFT eventually sponsored numerous programs and projects locally and system-wide.
Decentralizing for the 2000-2001 academic year, Center For Teaching will
focus on training college-based Faculty Development Consultants.
Barnes Seminar, CFTs Great teacher Seminar, is scheduled for May, 2001.
The unique structure and funding of CFT distinguish this program. Each Connecticut Community College has a Center For Teaching or Teaching Excellence Committee whose members work with the Faculty Development Consultant to determine the colleges yearly activities. The local committee also sends a representative to the System-wide Center For Teaching Steering Committee. This governing body consists of presidents and deans as well as the twelve college representatives. CFT is grateful for the financial support it receives from both the Board of Trustees (via the Presidents Council) and from the Congress of Connecticut Community Colleges. |
