SGA Homepage SGA Events Minutes of SGA Meetings

Minutes of October 5, 2005

Attendance: Susan Harrod, Hillary Poudrette, Lee McKusick, Jenn Armstrong, Jon Bisson, Rachel Mather, Danielle Millette, Matt Hall, Jim Grimord and Dave Stifel.

President Hillary Poudrette called the meeting to order at 11:11 am.

Treasurer’s Report:
Jon reported that we spent $696.00 on the Danielson social, $179.83 on the Willimantic social, we have a credit at Big Y of $6.06, and we purchased Mardi Gras Beads for $79.95.

Special Guest, Matt Hall:
Matt told us about an idea (which Hillary previously mentioned) to hold a Haunted House at QVCC. This will be a combined effort of PTK, SGA, faculty, staff and students. We will need a lot of student volunteers, so Hillary mentioned that we could put table cards in the cafeteria. Susan will get a list of all available classrooms from Kerstin. We would like to try and have a commitment of volunteers by next Wednesday. We may also want to ask Leona about the possibility of serving punch and cookies that evening.

OFS Presentation:
SGA Officers are needed to speak to Bob Kozlowski’s OFS class on Friday, October 14th at 9:00 am in room 209. Please let Susan know id you can make it.

SGA Informational Brochure:
Jenn was given suggestions to have the names and emails of the officers on the back of the brochure. Maybe Jenn could also work on something with Susan Breault as far as the layout and printing?

Student Electoral Assembly Candidates:
Aaron Studer and Brendan McMullen will be representing QVCC in the Electoral Assembly.

October Fundraisers:
• Mardi Gras Beads
• Candy Sale
• Penny Wars
** All money raised this month will be for Hurricane Victims **

October Trip (Salem, October 29th):
The trip will be from 4-10 pm. Jim has offered to contact someone at Salem State College to get us a calendar of upcoming events, and we will also check the times for the museums.

Election for QVCC Foundation Representative:
Since only one person has shown interest in the position, we decided that we would just vote her in. Rachel made a motion to accept Carole Blodgett as the Foundation Representative, and was seconded by Lee. All in favor, motion passed.

Updates on Pool Equipment:
We need to get some information to Jon so that he can create a flyer to be posted in the pool area. For now, we are going to hold off until we see what condition the equipment is currently in.

New Business:
The SGA Plaques on the wall may need to find a new place for now. It was also mentioned that some names still need to be added to the plaques.

Random Thoughts or Comments:
Starting now, if we need to reach Hillary we will need to call her cell phone at 617-4415. This will be for the next two to three months.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:18 pm.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 19th at 11:00 am.

Respectfully Submitted,

Jenn Armstrong
Secretary
