President Hillary Poudrette called the meeting to order at 11:08 am.
Treasurer’s Report:
No new news from the treasurer.
Dave Stifel – Concerns Regarding Haunted House:
Dave’s main concerns were about possible fire hazards (i.e. No open flames,
light bulbs not coming into contact with things) and the rooms’ current
furniture (where desks/chairs would go). We are planning on simply moving
them out of the way; it’s unlikely we’d be using all of the space in the
rooms.
Haunted House Planning:
We found out that Woodstock Academy had changed their schedule and were
going to do their Trick or Treat Street on the same night (at an earlier
time, though). Despite this turn of events, we decided to continue our
plans, mainly because most of the people from Danielson and the surrounding
area, which is our target audience, don’t usually go to Woodstock for that
event.
We agreed that we should publicize the event as much as possible. We will be
making flyers, putting an ad in the Norwich bulletin and the Shopper’s
Guide, and also advertising it on WINY. (Hillary and Lee went on Monday the
24th at 7:30am; it went very well) Danielle has also offered to make flyers.
Tom motioned that SGA would fund the advertising, and the motion was passed.
Matt, Hillary, Lee, Jenn, and Danielle were nominated to be room captains,
and will each be taking control of decorating one of the rooms Friday the
28th. The student volunteers will be assigned to teams to help.
Possible decoration ideas (outside the rooms and in the cafeteria) were:
pumpkins, orange and black streamers, and punch and cookies. We will also be
checking into the possibility of using partitions and/or using some sort of
black plastic to create walls within the rooms.
One suggestion that met a lot of positive reaction was providing pizza for
the volunteers who help out.
Salem Trip:
We’ve decided to cancel the trip to Salem, mainly because of the Haunted
Hallway the night before.
Updates on Fundraisers:
So far it seems the fundraisers are going very well. We’ve sold a lot of
candy and beads, and the Penny Wars jugs are beginning to fill.
Random Thoughts of Comments:
The art department thanked the SGA for funding their dinner, and invited the
SGA officers to come!
The meeting was adjourned at 12:10 pm.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 2 at 11:00 am.
Respectfully submitted,
Lee McKusick,Vice-President
