Minutes for November 16, 2005
Attendance: Susan Harrod, Hillary Poudrette, Lee McKusick, Jenn Armstrong, Jon Bisson, Rachel Mather, Jillian Maris and Tom Federer.
President Hillary Poudrette called the meeting to order at 11:02 am.
Treasurer’s Report:
1. $400 to Allison Joseph – poetry reading as an even sponsored by the
Multicultural Program Planning Committee.
2. $83. 35 – Art Club Project Expense
3. $49.47 – TL Caterers for refreshments provided in the cafeteria for the
Haunted Hallway event.
4. $100.00 to Alan Bicknell – presentation at the Willimantic Canter for
Native American Heritage Month (Multicultural Program Planning Committee).
5. $239.40 to Shopper/Turnpike Corp. – ad in the Shoppers Guide and Turnpike
Buyer for the First Annual Haunted Hallway.
6. $83.40 and $133.26 = $216.66 for miscellaneous out-of-pocket expenses for
the Haunted Hallway.
7. $335.00 to T&M Billiards for 12 pool sticks and 144 ping pong balls.
8. $10.00 to the Town of Putnam Parade Fund for entry into the Holiday
Dazzle Light Parade.
9. $160. 24 – Art Club project expense.
10. $512.72 – to the Baptist Church of Danielson and Moosup – for funds
raised for Hurricane Katrina victims.
FUNDS RAISED AND DEPOSITED INTO SGA ACCOUNT FOR HURRICANE VICTIMS:
1. $34.00 raised at the Willimantic Center from sale of Mardi Gras Beads
2. $97.00 raised from Penny Wars jugs.
Holiday Dazzle Light Parade:
The SGA will be participating in the parade this year. Officers will meet at
another time for discussion and planning. However, Tom made a motion to use
SGA funds for the parade if needed, and was seconded by Rachel. All in
favor, motion passed.
Santa Anonymous Winter Boot Collection:
The Children that we will be supporting range from age 5 – 14. Jenn will
create the display for the tags, and Hillary will make the tags.
Holiday Donations for DCF Families:
Lee made a motion to accept 15 teenagers for Holiday Support, and was
seconded by Tom. All in favor motion passed. Gifts may range from $20 - $30.
A display will be created as soon as we have more info.
Winter Celebration:
The Danielson event will take place on Wednesday, December 14th, and on
December 15th in Willimantic. More info to follow.
New Student Organizations:
The Protest Warrior – Tom made a motion to accept, and was seconded by Lee.
All in favor, motion passed.
The Research Collective – Tom made a motion to accept with request for $500,
and was seconded by Rachel. All in favor, motion passed.
Election of Officers:
Elections will be held on December 12 & 13 for the offices of Secretary and
Treasurer. The announcement of the new candidates will be made on December
14th at the Winter Celebration.
Skiing and Snowboarding (Nassiff’s For Sports):
Trips will leave the Willimantic Center at 5:30 am – lessons and rentals are
not included. Please note that this is not an SGA related event.
Multicultural Program Planning Committee:
November is Native American Heritage Month, and there will be presentations
by Carole Blodgett. The next meeting is on Wednesday, November 30th.
Old Business:
Susan thanked Jon for getting us a connection with Townline Pizza.
New Business:
Tom is planning a trip to see the Boston Red Sox vs. The Yankees, on May
23rd at 7pm. The bus would need to leave QVCC between 3:30 – 4:00. We also
have options of May 12 – 14 against the Texas Rangers. Tom made a motion to
use a coach bus for this trip, and was seconded by Lee. All in favor, motion
passed. More info to come…
The meeting was adjourned at 11:55 am.
The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at 11:00 in polycom.
