Haunted Hallway Volunteers.

5. $150.00 on 11/29/05 to Carole Blodgett for programs held for Native
American Heritage Month – an activity of the Multicultural Program Planning
Committee.
Foundation Report:
Carole reported that the online auction will be starting up soon. She
would like to see SGA participate and provide support in any way possible
for this event.
The Foundation Gala will take place on February 18th at The Harvest. Tickets are $75 per person, or $150 for a couple.
Holiday Dazzle Light Parade Wrap-Up:
We had a total of 10 people in attendance at the parade. The truck
looked awesome, but it would be great if we could start a bit earlier next
year so that we can do something even bigger and better. Jon also mentioned
that we should see if we can acquire a generator for the lights next year as
well.
Santa Anonymous Winter Boot Collection:
There is a board outside of Susan’s office with the boots that are
needed for children for the holidays. A few have been taken, but we still
have many left. All boots must be returned to Room 110 no later than Friday,
December 9th.
Holiday Donations for DCF Families:
Through email alone, 12 of the 15 teens are accounted for. At this
point, there are only 3 teens remaining who need a holiday gift. We are
hoping that someone will come through for them by the end of the week.
Winter Celebrations:
The Danielson event will take place on Wednesday, December 14th from
11:30 -1:00. Rachel Mather, Becky Shears, and Sarah & Michelle Coutu have
volunteered to help decorate. The Willimantic event will take place on
Thursday, December 15th from 12:00 to 1:00. Susan said that she will discuss
the event with the Multicultural Program Planning Committee. Andrew said
that he would be willing to play guitar, and Hillary is going to try and
contact Shaina and Jenelle Alston. Jenn will contact Steppingstones to let
them know the date and time, and Susan will contact maintenance in regards
to a Christmas Tree, and Michael Lynch regarding microphones for the event.
Since the Danielson event takes place on a regular SGA meeting day, Lee made a motion to cancel the next SGA meeting, making this one our last “public” meeting for the year. The motion was seconded by Rachel. All in favor, motion passed.
New Student Organizations:
Peace and Social Justice Group – has requested $300 for copying fees,
speakers, etc. Carole made a motion to support the group with funding, and
was seconded by Rachel. Motion passed with one abstention.
Election of Officers:
We will not be holding an election – instead, we may combine the duties
of the Secretary and the Treasurer. Jenn will let everyone know at the
executive committee meeting if she is staying involved or not. There was
some discussion as to whether or not we should change our constitution so
that we are allowed to have mid-year elections if needed. Rachel made a
motion to amend the constitution for this purpose, and was seconded by
Carole. All in favor, motion passed. Hillary volunteered to make the change
to the constitution, and will then give it to Lee to post on the SGA
Website.
Multicultural Program Planning Committee:
The group will be meeting today. They have just completed Native
American History month, including presentations by Carole Blodgett. Susan
will speak with the committee today about the Winter Celebration.
Old Business:
42 Tickets have been ordered for “The Lion King” at The Bushnell on
Friday, April 21st.
New Business:
Be sure to check out the SGA WEBSITE!!! Go to www.qvcc.commnet.edu/sga.
Hillary brought up an idea involving the Danielson Spring Time Festival. The event takes place in April or May, and it would be cool if SGA had some kind of entry in the parade. We will see if we can get more information on this event.
Carole mentioned that April 22nd is Earth Day. We cold hold our Earth Week celebration either the week before, or the following week, with the 28th being Arbor Day.
Susan said that she has nominated all SGA Officers for the Student Leadership Day which generally takes place in January.
Since most of the SGA Officers will be graduating this year, Hillary mentioned the idea of donating a tree to QVCC, as a “goodbye” gift.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jenn Armstrong
Secretary
***PLEASE NOTE*** SGA Officers met in the afternoon following this meeting. A decision was made regarding the price of tickets for the Winter Celebration in Danielson. Dinner tickets for all faculty and staff will be $5.50, and tickets for students will be $2.50, with SGA paying $3.00 for every student dinner.
