Treasurer’s Report: Since the last SGA meeting held on 11/30/05, the following expenditures were submitted to the Business Office:

1. $35.00 on 11/30/05 to The Sunshine Shop for a plant for Leona
2. $50.00 on 12/7/05 to Carole Blodgett for a program held in Danielson on 11/29 for Native American Heritage Month

5. $200 on 12/19/05 to Oobah’s Deli for the Winter Celebration luncheon in Willimantic
6. $28.85 on 1/31/06 to T & M Billiards for a new ping pong table net.

Total amount of Payment Authorizations submitted to the Business Office during this period: $561.83

Foundation Representative’s Report: The Foundation’s Online Auction to raise funds for scholarships is well under way, with many items both sold and still up for auction. Also, the Foundation’s Annual Gala is being held on the 18th of February, at the Harvest. It is $75 per person, $150 per couple.

Bookstore Advisory Committee: The idea was brought forward by Deans Huard and Bull of a committee of students (from both Willimantic and Danielson) that could voice concerns, suggestions, and other feedback from QV students to the bookstore, and in general improve the relationship between the bookstore and students. The committee would assist in improving the day-to-day operation of the bookstore.
Carole Blodgett motioned for the creation of the committee, Lee McKusick seconded the motion, and the motion was passed.
More information about the committee to come.

Winter Celebration Wrapup: Overall, the celebration went well, with around 110 people coming from the Danielson Campus, and 50+ coming to the Willimantic event. A brief concern was voiced that the children who came from Steppingstones were not greeted by an SGA officer, however, Predident Poudrette felt that doing so would detract from the presence of Mrs. Clause.
Election of Officers: The positions of SGA Treasurer and Secretary are currently vacant, and elections are being held to fill those positions for the current semester. There will be a “Meet the Candidates” session at the Welcome Back socials. The elections themselves will take place Monday, February 20th and Tuesday, February 21st, with the ballot box in the LSD office.

Welcome Back Socials: As previously mentioned, SGA will be holding Welcome Back socials at both campuses in order to greet both new and returning students for the Spring semester. The social in Danielson will take place on Wednesday, February 15th, and hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided by Leona. Willimantic’s social will take place the day after, February 16th, and food will be provided by Oobah’s Deli.

Amendments to the SGA Constitution: Two changes were made to the SGA Constitution, one allowing for mid-year elections in the event of a vacancy (Article II, Section E), and the other a change to the Multicultural Program Planning Committee, so that a member of the SGA, not specifically the Vice-president, shall serve on the committee.

Spring Trips: So far, for our trip to The Bushnell to see the Lion King on Friday, April 21st, 16 tickets have been sold at the Danielson campus, and 7 at Willimantic.
A possible event idea by Carole Blodgett was to the Butterfly Garden. More information will come from the next meeting.

Graduation Dinner Dance: After talking to several people, President Hillary Poudrette proposed the idea of creating an ad hoc committee for the purpose of organizing the Graduation Dinner Dance. Not only does this allow more people to help, but it also allows the students themselves, and not just SGA, to plan the event. Former SGA Secretary Jenn Armstrong has volunteered to head up the committee. Carole Blodgett motioned for the creation of the committee, and Lee McKusick seconded the motion, and the motion passed.
Also, a motion was made by Carole to move the dance to May 26th, which Josh Bill seconded, and was passed.

Relay for Life: This year for Relay we have a group of four co-captains. Hillary Poudrette and Jenn Armstrong are student co-captains, and Susan Harrod and Kirsten Comtois are representing QV’s faculty.
In order to raise as much money for Relay as possible, there will be a Flower and Bake sale on Valentine’s Day (Tuesday, February 14th), as will as a Music Festival in April (More info to come later).

Springtime Festival Parade: After the success of the Holiday Dazzle Light Parade, we are looking into the possibility of participating in Danielson’s Springtime Festival Parade in April. President Poudrette will obtain more information on the date if interest is expressed.

Student Organizations: There were two student organization proposal forms that we submitted for this week's meeting.

Alpha Beta Gamma or ABG submitted the first of the two forms. The advisor for the group is Jen Oliver, and all officers have yet to be elected. (It should be noted that this organization is already in existence and is now requesting funding.) The group has requested $450.00 in funding. The majority of the money they will use for the induction ceremony, with $150.00 going to the flowers for the ceremony $250.00 going to the dinner on the night of the ceremony. The remaining $50.00 will be used for miscellaneous supplies or expenses that may arise. There was a motion to except the funding proposal from this group by Carol Blodgett and it was seconded by Lee McKusick. All voted in favor of giving ABG its requested funding.

The second group to submit a student organization proposal form was the Gay Straight Alliance or the GSA. There are two advisors for this group, Nan Hirst and Julius Sokenu. There will only be two offices in this organization, the first is a combination of President and Secretary that will be occupied by Rebecca Shears and the Vice President and Treasurer’s position will be held by Susan Corey. The purpose for this group is, “To have a place for gays, lesbians, transgendered, transsexual and bisexual people and anyone who supports them to fell comfortable talking about things they would not feel comfortable talking about otherwise. This group is supposed to be a support group but is also educates people about the gays, lesbians, transgendered, transsexual and bisexual world.” This group also requested funding in the amount of $500.00 for publicity, and transportation to events. A motion was made by Josh Bill to approve this new organization and was seconded by Carol Blodgett. All members were in favor of the motion

The meeting was adjourned at 3:38pm

Respectfully Submitted,

Lee McKusick
Vice President
