Minutes for March 8th, 2006
Attendance: Hillary Poudrette, Lee McKusick, Joshua Bill, Jim Grimord, Jenn Armstrong, Susan Harrod.
President Hillary Poudrette called the meeting to order at 2:37pm.
Treasurers Report: Since the last SGA meeting there was no expenditures. Discussed the estimated SGA budget for 2005-2006 that was distributed at the meeting for review and comments.
Foundations Representative Report: The foundation’s annual online action had a successful turnout and student participation was increased. The Foundation will also be hosting “Corp Kickoff Breakfast” on March 15th in the Danielson Cafeteria. Breakfast will be from 7:30 – 9:00 and Senator Don Williams will be in attendance.
Book Store Advisory Committee: Jim Grimord outlined the expected
goals and procedures for the SGA Bookstore sub-committee.
The committee should:
• Address complaints, concerns and needs as a neutral party.
• All formal responses should have a mandatory 48 hour reply.
• Provide clarification on bookstore operations and procedures
• Advise bookstore faculty
The committee should be consisted of 4-6 students, in which 2 members should be employees of the Bookstore. It was also recommended that Jen Oliver be contacted for 2 students to serve on the committee for business operations. Hillary will report back to Jim by March 27th.
Springs Trips (Lion King): All tickets for the Trip are sold out. SGA members will update all the posters.
Graduation Dinner Dance: The committee has decided upon Wrights Mill Tree Farm as the venue and they are in process of finalizing. It was also decided that the theme would be “Hollywood Nights”, Jenn and Hillary have volunteered to be in charge of decorations. A buffet menu was also determined including Baked Herb Chicken, Manicotti or stuffed shells.
Relay for Life: There was a proposal for a mini festival for fundraising, which would include games and contests. Hilary and Jenn have volunteered to set up a meeting with Dean Huard for availability and report back at next meeting.
Spring Time Festival Parade: There is no new information for this item at this time.
Student Organizations: Discussion on the lack of communication between SGA and the student organizations it recognizes and funds. For organizations requesting recognition and/or funding from SGA, it was determined each group needs to have a representative attend an SGA meeting to discuss their Student Organization Proposal as well as provide more feed back to SGA throughout the semester. Susan Harrod will send out an email to inform faculty/staff advisors and current student organizations.
Multicultural Programming Planning Committee: Beginning on Thursday, March 23, Claire Markov (QVCC student) will host a 6-week video series called “Finding Inner Peace” in Danielson (Room 127 noon-1:00 p.m.) which features Prem Rawat, known to many as Maharaji.
Old Business: There is a scheduled piano tuning on March 15th.
New Business: No new business at this time.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:34 pm. Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 22nd at 2:30 pm.
