Dean of Academic Affairs and Student Services
Welcome to Quinebaug Valley Community College. I am currently in my 13th year at QVCC and my fourth year as Dean. I am really excited about the excellent choice you have made in deciding to attend QVCC. Not only is QVCC a great educational and economic value, the faculty and staff are dedicated to helping you meet your academic goals.
Academic Affairs and Student Services is comprised of numerous departments to help you complete your schooling. I am pleased that Jo-Ann Black serves as Division Director for the Academic Division which includes faculty, the library, the Learning Center, our Non-Credit division, Education Technology and Early College Programs. Amy Kacerik is our Director of Students Services overseeing offices that support you in your academic endeavors: Admissions, Advising, Career Services, Disability Services, Financial Aid, the Records Office, Veterans Services and the Willimantic Center.
Visit our Student Success Center, located across from the cafeteria in Danielson. This one-stop shop is dedicated to helping you with all your core student service needs. Bring any of your questions to the front window and we will make sure you get the help you need. At the Willimantic Center, Interim Coordinator Randy Sanders can help connect you to all your college needs.
The key word that QVCC is focusing on for you is success. Finishing college takes work. If you invest in yourself by dedicating the time and energy needed to succeed, our staff is prepared to help you reach that success. Remember trying harder makes you smarter. I love to celebrate success and thus along with Interim Dean Jayne Battye we initiated a Dean's List celebration in 2013. If you are on the Dean's List look for your invite. We hold the celebrations each semester.
I was recently asked what I am most proud of during my tenure at QVCC. Well just last year we celebrated our 43rd Commencement. A record class of over 300 hundred students graduated. And every single one of them graduated with no federal debt. I am proud that I work at an institution that has seen four straight years of debt free graduates. With all the reporting on the dangers of student debt, QVCC provides a low cost high value education debt free.
